Trust God's Timing Not Yours
With Catherine MingaCatherine Minga has dedicated most of her adult life to the pursuit of finding her path, to the Glory of God, through the gift of being a painter. Born and raised in a rural farming town on Southeastern Virginia, the love of art began in her heart at an early age.
Having a strong Christian foundation, Catherine has always believed that God has guided her path in life. After failing miserably at a university, Catherine changed majors to the only thing that she was confident in and that was art. She applied and was accepted to Ringling College of Art and Design in Sarasota, FL, one of the top 5 art schools in the country. Catherine majored in Graphic Design instead of painting because it was important that she be able to get a job upon graduation. However, her love for painting always came first. She could feel the Holy Spirit move within her as she painted and she wanted to follow the Will of God for her life. But what exactly did He want her to do and what audience did he want her to reach?? Those questions burned in her prayers nightly.
After caregiving for her parents, Catherine and her husband moved for the first time in 30 years. While working on a cohesive body of work with two solo shows booked, Catherine discovered a lump in her breast. They had been in their new home for only 8 months when she had to undergo Chemotherapy and a double mastectomy. The painting stopped. The chemo had destroyed all desire and ability to paint. That was when Catherine put the physical healing trust in the Lord and wrestled with the mental healing. She read a book by a christian art mentor and from that book, got a link to a creativity summit where she met Devorah and joined InStory. Through the work in InStory her work has grown. Her faith has grown. And slowly all of her ability has returned. She has also received confirmation and a new vision for her painting future!
